{The Beginning}
Though there are many stories about the creation of the world, this is what truly happened.
"Before there was time there was the Creator. The Creator is neither male nor female, neither human nor animal, but an entirely spiritual form. The Creator lived in a darkness too dark to be darkness. There was nothing until the Creator created the Earth. The Earth was empty, bare of everything. The Creator changed that by creating light to feed plants, and plants to feed animals. The food chain was created, hunters were forged, and spirits were given flesh hosts. Flesh hosts are ephemeral, yet the soul within them is eternal. When one body dies, another if born for the spirit to live in. Every life is equal, and every life depends on the life of another. Caribou must eat lichen and grass, and humans must eat Caribou to survive. With all of the humans in one spot, the Caribou began to die out. The humans separated across the land, finding different food sources to keep the balance that the Creator had worked so hard to make. The Cree settled in the Prairies, living off of the Caribou and other wildlife.
Throughout the deaths and the despair, the Caribou banded together, creating herds of their own. They do not have a set belief on the Creator, but tend to pick up their belief of a Creator based on the Cree's beliefs. Instead, they have their Great Spirit. Her name is Orenda. She was the animal consort of the Cree's Creator. Though her form was never set due to her lack of a physical form. She has no true gender, but it is believed that all animals are her offspring, leading to the belief of her being a female. They believe that the hunting of animals is viscous because they are prey. To Caribou, Cree are not barbarians however, they're just a part of the circle of life. Some Caribou disagree and have been known to speak out in outrage against the hunting of their species. No one will know if they truly descend from Orenda, but one thing is for sure, the Caribou hate being prey."

{The Recent}
The Cree have taken over the land between Reindeer Lake and the Saskatchewan River, making it the dwelling place for their camp. They have everyday encounters with the Caribou. As spiritual as they are, the Cree believe that all spirits are equal and welcome the animals into their lands with open arms, unless they are needed for a meal. In the current, more rebellious times a few Cree are starting to doubt their legends. They may rebel and who knows what could happen.
The Caribou have been living peacefully with the Cree, only being hunted when the Cree absolutely need food. As the Cree have had a few rebels hunt more Caribou than needed, the Caribou are wary of the young men and the women with bows. They have no intention of ending up speared, and have been known to die honourably for their spirits to pass on into their next physical form.
