{Cree Social Ladder}
Chief:
This is the leader of the clan. He or she, typically he for strength, will be the admin [ergo it will always be me, Nina]. They control decide on all of the politics and hunting times for the groups. A decision, such as moving the camp or trading with a another tribe, must be approved by the chief and the elders.
Elders:
These are the old and wise of the tribe. In this case, someone of any age can be an elder. They are chosen by the chief and accepted by the tribe for their good treatment of others and ability to follow the rules. With their wise eyes the chief trusts them to help keep the tribe together and safe from harmful words and doubtful minds. They can make modifications to posts and they can move posts to other boards and give out minor warnings. They are appointed by the chief.
Spirit Speakers:
There is only one Spirit Speaker per tribe. They are the ones who, along with the dancer of the tribe, try to appease the spirits. The Spirit Speaker can speak to those who have passed on directly while they are in the waiting room before being placed in their next form. They are appointed as soon as they show a talent for knowing what will happen and where animals will be.
Healers:
Healers are the medicine people of the clan. They know what herbs do what and have learned how to deal with all sorts of injuries. They are apprenticed at the age of 13 with the approval of the chief. There are only three at a time. They are normal members of the tribe with no special say in decisions.
Dancer:
This profession is for one girl over the age of 13. These dances are complex and are to appease the spirits for good weather or a good hunt. For this job, training begins at the age of ten to help them learn graceful movements and all of the tribe's history. There is only one dancer and one apprentice. Luyu last learned the dances and is looking to pass down her knowledge to anyone below the age of twenty who is female (men may also apply but it is unusual).
Hunters:
Hunters protect the tribe, and go on hunts. They have no real say in council decisions and are regular people just like woman and children. Any boy or girl over the age of fifteen can be a warrior, but they must first train and ask the permission of the council, and get a hunter tutor.
Gatherers:
These are woman and men who gather herbs, plants, flowers, and berries. They tend to also be weavers and do the basic work around the camp, though everyone helps out. They help to clean the carcass and to keep the camp clean. Gatherers also weave and help build teepees.
Children:
Children are anyone under the age of fourteen or anyone with an undecided rank that is under twenty. They help the gatherers but don't typically stray far from the camp due to the menacing outdoors. They do not hunt, nor can they be elders. If, at any time a chief needs to be a child it is allowed, but only for the chief.
